Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia is a life threatening condition caused by a baby’s diaphragm not forming properly during pregnancy. The diaphragm is the main muscle that helps us breath, and also seperate the chest cavity from the abdominal cavity. The hernia (or hole) can occur on either the left or right side of the diaphragm, or very rarely, can be both sides (bilateral). Because of the hole in the diaphragm, abdominal organs can move into the chest cavity and put pressure on the heart and lungs, due to this the lungs have insufficient space to grow and are smaller than they should be and the heart can be put under a great deal of pressure. Vyne Health supports the CDH Australia Charity by donating a a portion of $ from every treatment made for the month of November; the month of November is significant to CDH, known as Sunflower Sunday. It is the middle Sunday of November each year and is a day of celebration, remembrance, hope and unity.
